A few reasons collectors value it so highly: Exceptional iridescence – Quezal pieces have a rich, metallic shimmer that changes color in the light, often with gold, green, blue, and purple tones. Connection to Tiffany – The company was founded in 1901 by former employees of Louis Comfort Tiffany, so the techniques and quality are closely related to Tiffany Studios. Handmade artistry – Each piece was individually blown and decorated by skilled artisans. No two pieces are exactly alike. Short production period – Most desirable Quezal glass was produced from about 1901 to the 1920s, making surviving examples relatively scarce. Innovative designs – Collectors particularly seek “pulled feather,” “vine,” “hooked feather,” and highly iridescent floral designs. The name “Quezal” comes from the brilliantly colored Central American bird now usually spelled quetzal, chosen because of its iridescent plumage. What sells for the most? The highest values are usually: Pulled feather vases Rare lamp shades Floral and vine-decorated pieces Signed examples with strong iridescence and no damage Mexican Glass Candles Cook books Crystal German Porcelain Lamps figures and flowers Lanterns Art glass Italian Rococo Table and chairs Persian Rugs Mughal 10 X 14 Karastan Runner - appx 20’ Large Brass candlesticks Huge collection of Frames and art supplies Bohemian Glasss Table made from pine logs -Adirondack Silverplate collection Milk Glass collection Shelley China Large collection of hand made quilts - early patterns - also books on quilts Royal Wedgwood Loads of Antique Dressers tables etc east lake etc - Jenny Lind Bedframe Persian Rugs Santos Oil Lamps and so much more to be added later!
